Head of Steam is an expanding UK pub chain with bars in most major cities. As part of their expansion, the North-West brewer opened its first pub in Birmingham City Centre.
The pub needed to have a unique feel and innovative design features and was Cameron’s biggest investment in a single venue.
We were asked to tender for the job as main contractor. It wasn’t without its challenges. Firstly, the kitchen extractor had to go up through the building, a full 30 metres. Secondly, the floor could only take so much weight so special screeds had to be used in certain areas. Finally, the city centre location created a number of logistics challenges in getting the site ready, such as no parking, no skips and it made delivering materials difficult.
